Discraft Buzzz OS

Updated: Jul 2, 2022

In this review, we're going to be taking a look at the overstable version of one of the most popular discs of all time, the Discraft Buzzz, and that disc is the

Naturally the ''OS'' in the name stands for overstable, and with a Fade of 3, this useful mid-range is just that,

Overstable.

As mentioned, the original Discraft Buzzz is one of, if not THE, most popular discs of all time.

So it's no surprise that Discraft would take one of their best creations and give players another useful version to add to their bag.

You can read our full review of the original Buzzz by CLICKING HERE, but in this article, let's focus on the Buzzz OS and see everything it has to offer!

Shown here is my personally bagged Buzzz OS!

Right away, the Buzzz OS felt extremely familiar in the hand for me as I was already very comfortable with the feel of the Buzzz from bagging it for years.

My bag was lacking a true overstable mid-range, and by the numbers the Buzzz OS fit the bill with it's Turn of 0 and Fade of 3.

Initially, I was concerned that this disc would provide too much stability for me, but I was pleasantly surprised by how controllable this mid-range was in terms of manipulating fade with the amount of speed and hyzer.

When thrown hard and flat, the Buzzz OS takes off flying very straight, but after approximately 3/4 of its flight, it begins its reliable fade to finish things off.

Hyzer lines predictably have a ton of fade and anny lines provide a very nice flex shot line that I have used in both backhand and forehand applications.

In head winds, the Buzzz OS essentially becomes a dead straight flyer and closely resembles the Buzzz, so it has become my go to mid-range disc in these situations in addition to those hyzer line shots I need every round.

Before I wrap up my thoughts,

Wrap-Up

My initial reservations about adding this mid-range to the bag was that it would not get used much due to the excellent versatility of the Discraft Zone, a popular approach putter that I bag and use on nearly every hole.

Because of this, my Buzzz OS did not see much course time at first.

But as I became aware of what this mid-range could do for me, I began to trust it more and more, especially for instances where I was hesitant to grab the Zone because of distance or shot shape.

While the Zone is a great disc, I just was not able to get mid-range distances out of it no matter how hard I tried, even if the shot called for it.

Before adding this disc, I would have grabbed by Firebird, but it often gave me too much fade than what the situation called for, and occasionally too much distance.

Like mentioned, I'm amazed how long this disc holds a straight line before starting its aggressive fade, and once I learned to trust this fade, it quickly became a disc I used frequently.

I trust it equally for forehands and backhands, but find myself using it more in backhand situations.

When I do forehand it, I'm commonly using it for a forehand flex shot, rather than a hyzer line, and it performs very well for me.

Where this disc really shines for me is when I'm staring down a 250-275 foot shot that needs to finish left, and without hesitation, I grab the Buzzz OS.

I've tried other overstable mid-ranges in time, but none have been able to replace the reliability and feel that I get with the Buzzz OS and I'm confident that it will do for the same for you if you give it the chance.

So grab one today or the next time you're in need of a quality overstable mid-range!
